Just For The Kids Honors Petersburg Schools With “High Performing” Designation
Petersburg ISD has recently been honored by Just for the Kids, an organization sponsored by the National Center for Educational Achievement, for high performance in math at the secondary campus, and writing at the elementary campus. Petersburg ISD is the only Region 17 school district with multiple campuses receiving such an honor.
The National Center for Educational Achievement identifies consistently higher performing schools in many states across the country. The schools identified by NCEA are those that exhibit outstanding performance across multiple grades and years. As the foundation of NCEA's Best Practice research, the behaviors of these high-performers are compared with those of average-performing schools in order to determine the unique practices of the most successful campuses. At the core of the NCEA identification process are two fundamental beliefs about the qualities of a higher performing school:
“We are excited about the recognition”, stated Petersburg ISD superintendent Joey Nichols. “It is a tribute to the hard work of our principals, teachers, students, and parents”.
