PISD Nominated For Susan G. Komen Co-Survivor Award

December 18, 2009

The staff and students of Petersburg ISD are deeply honored and humbled to be nominated for the Susan G. Komen Co-Survivor Award because of their participation in Nancy Horn’s journey of the past few years.  PISD truly appreciates all that Komen Lubbock has done not only for Nancy, but for all those affected by breast cancer.  As a way to further honor both Nancy and this wonderful organization, a group (ALL of Petersburg ISD!!!) picture was taken this past Friday.

Ashley Hamm, Executive Director, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Lubbock Affiliate explains the reasons behind the nomination.

"The Lubbock Area affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is asked to nominate volunteers and activist who make a real difference in the lives of our community.  The Komen Board of Directors selected Petersburg ISD for the Co-Survivor Award nominee because of the compassion and support shown to Nancy Horn during her breast cancer journey and thereafter.  Komen Lubbock if forever grateful for the support of groups such as Petersburg ISD.  Please know that you play a vital part in helping breast cancer patients fight this terrible disease and your support is a huge part of their success.  Thank you for your dedication to Nancy and to this cause!"
